Gandoca-Manzanillo Wildlife Refuge
The wildlife refuge Gandoca-Manzanillo is located in Limón, Caribbean coast of Costa Rica. Bathe fine sand beaches, gentle waves and coral reefs decorate the sea, and make this region a paradise for nature lovers and water sports.
The land of refuge is flat, with gentle hills formed by the accumulation of sediments by the Banana River, never exceeding 100 meters above sea level.
The creatures found on the reef include lobsters, sponges, anemones, shrimps, crabs and a variety of fish, crustaceans and others.
This refuge protects many species of endangered animals such as crocodiles and tapirs, or whose populations have been reduced considerably as caimans and toucans.
There are other interesting animals such as rodents, manatees, snakes and other large reptiles.
