Rain Forest Or Tropical Rain Forest of Costa Rica



The rain forest or tropical rain forest is the largest terrestrial ecosystem abundance of animals and plants (quantity and diversity ) of Costa Rica . In Costa Rica occupies 5.5% of the territory . It is full of life , many species of birds, insects , poisonous frogs , monkeys .
 
The rainfall is 1800-4000 mm annual average and high temperature. The dry period ranging from 0-2 months. It is an evergreen forest with a very high density .

 
It is divided into different strata 4-5 . The understory is abundant predominantly evergreen species . The mean canopy height can reach 30 to 40 feet high. In undisturbed forests can find more and 150 arboreal species . In Costa Rica is located in the lowlands ( coastal plains ) in the northern zone and the Caribbean , along with those of the center and south of the Pacific as major regions , but there are many fragmented areas throughout the country. The region Upala , San Carlos and the upper parts of the Nicoya Peninsula are representative. This forest is typically composed of multiple layers , with large species , semi-deciduous or evergreen . The big cats of Costa Rica are found here, such as the puma ( Puma concolor ) , jaguar ( Panthera onca ) , jaguarundi (Puma jagouroundi ) , ocelot ( Leopardus wiedii ) and ocelot ( Leopardus pardalis) . The large number of exotic birds is awesome as well as butterflies and reptiles , such as the American crocodile ( Crocodylus acutus ).
