Fantastic trip! We went with four couples, all big travelers. Two of us had been to Costa Rica previously. We would all go back again!! We spent 7 days in CR, half in the Arenal mountains and the other half at the beach in Tamarindo. We went on a guided volcano hike, ATV tour, white water rafting adventure and ocean sailing. All were well worth the time and investment.
Tachiz Travel was amazing. No detail was missed. All of the guides and vendors they paired us with were top notch. They beautifully planned wake up times, meals, activity schedules, spa services and transportation. They checked with us regularly to make sure everything was going as planned. I’ve never worked with a better, more thorough travel company. In fact, I asked them on the last day what other locations they plan because I would base my next trip around their services!
There are so many fantastic memories from this trip. The Arenal hotel area was beautiful. The lush greenery and clean air in the volcano area was certainly a favorite. We absolutely loved the ATV tours. It provided good variety of scenery from muddy trails with volcano views, to remote back street roads where children gave high 5’s as we drove past, to dodging cows down a dirt road, stopping to view momma and baby sloth moving in the trees and cooling off for a drink and a swim in a small river/waterfall area.
I would select a different hotel at the beach in Tamarindo. It was nice, clean and the service was fantastic. The garden area on the beach was amazing. Breakfast was great. The hotel itself was a little too small for us. No gym, no hot tub, no real spa, one restuarant with a very limited menu. The rooms were very basic. Two of our rooms had bug issues.
The ATV tour was amazing/so much fun and so worth the price, however, the vendor really needs to work on their customer service. Most of the staff were not friendly. They were really pushy/short with the guests.
