Wildlife Refuge Iguanita




The wildlife refuge Iguanita, was enacted for the protection of high species diversity, marine and cultural resources, and to provide opportunities for research, protection, education and low-impact social tourism, has great diversity of flora and terrestrial and marine fauna, in which were recorded the presence of species considered for the country with depleted, threatened or endangered. Examples: coba and ronron, king vultures and Peacock, white faced monkey ocelot; lobster and cambute.
It has an area of 115 acres and protects diversity of natural and cultural resources, including beach, estuary, mangrove, gallery forest and wooded cliff, plus archaeological and historical sites in the lower reaches of large stream.
