Turrialba Volcano

The last major eruption of the Turrialba volcano occurred in 1866, however, the activity remains constant from the summit of the highest peak. There are three well-defined craters on top, the deepest is 50 m, giving the impression of a lunar landscape similar to Irazu Volcano. In fact, many people call these twin volcanoes because of their similar characteristics and proximity.

The beautiful volcano covered by dense vegetation of about 1577 acres is comprised mostly of mountain rainforests. Much of the Turrialba Volcano National Park is made up of primary and secondary forest, where it is common to observe small wildlife moving around. Walking through the trails allow visitors to observe the rivers with different lava flows. Once at the apex, along various points of view in the preserved trails will have the opportunity to have a spectacular 360 ยบ.

Turrialba The city was once the gateway to the Atlantic coast. Now is a great starting point for many activities, especially to visit the Turrialba Volcano National Park.
