Celeste River

 
 
Arenal Conservation Area-Tempisque (ACA-T) is one of the 11 zones that make up the National System of Conservation Areas (Sinac) under the direction of the Ministry of Environment and Energy (Minae) in it are countless natural landscapes of great beauty, among which the Rio Celeste, with waters that tone that result from the emission of sulfur and calcium carbonate precipitation.
This area was established in October 1991 and covers about 387,515.47 hectares, equivalent to 7.58% of the country. Tenorio Volcano National Park was established on March 16, 1976 and is the second rise in Guanacaste Volcanic Mountain Range.
Because of its location and geographical alignment, this range serves as a natural wall, and intercepting moisture laden clouds from the Caribbean Sea, which are carried by winds from the northwest, which gives rise to the formation of character rains orographic.
Due to the great variety of climates, the Tenorio Volcano National Park houses a large number of species of plants and trees, including the more common are: oak, wild avocado, loquat, banana, tapir and many palms, ferns, bromeliads, orchids and heliconias.
Among the most outstanding wildlife species are: tapir, peccary, tolomuco, howler monkeys, white-faced monkey, red monkey, cats (puma, margay and ocelot), bird bell, peacock and various hawks and trogons.
Other tourist attractions include hot springs, outgassing of light blue waterfall, a trail altitudinal enclosing all the secrets of the volcano and Lake La Danta.
Rio Celeste is one of the main attractions that exist, the waterfall gives reference to its name because it is turquoise milky color results from a chemical reaction in a place where two streams with completely different chemical characteristics together and create its color reaction.
This place is called "Teñidero" and is hidden in the dense rainforest. From this point the river, with its color almost dreamlike flowing through the forest without losing their color even in the nearby waterfall.
Some people say that there is a legend that after God painted the sky in Creation, washed the brushes in Rio Celeste .... venture into this paradise blue.
