10 reasons to visit Costa Rica
1. BIODIVERSITY.
It has 58 different microclimates and holds 5% of the life forms on the planet in just 50,000 km ². Nothing strange if we remember that the isthmus linking two continents. Mammals include jaguars, monkeys, armadillos, sloths, coatis; are almost two hundred species of amphibians; more than 800 bird-watching; tropical fish, rays, sharks and even humpback whales live in its waters; are over 2000 species of trees growing in the soil; 10% of butterflies in the world are here.
2. PROTECTED NATURE.
There are 17 national parks and biological reserves seven. It is the country with the highest percentage of territory embraced different categories of protection and management of natural areas: 25% of its total área.
3. HAPPY PLANET.
According to the New Economics Foundation, Costa Rica ranks first in the Happy Planet Index; and is the "greenest" country in the world.
4. PACIFIC. BEACHES AND SURF.
Not everything is jungle. There are highly recommended beaches in the Costa Rican Pacific. The Nicoya Peninsula in Guanacaste province, is the one with largest hotel infrastructure. In addition to white sand beaches and coral reefs, the coast is a favorite destination for surfers.
5. SOUTH CARIBBEAN
The Caribbean coast holds the largest barrier reef in the country in Cahuita National Park, a must for lovers of diving. His Afro-Caribbean population and indigenous communities constitute a differential value on the rest of the country.
6. TREKKING, RAFTING AND CANOPY.
Costa Rica is a paradise for hikers, as most of the national parks and protected areas are visited on foot.
