Peak Season Reviews on Tachiz Travel Service

Tachiz Travel Review by C. Sescleifer, USA from: 01/02/2019

Wow...talk about the ultimate in customer service! Tachiz Travel is an amazing travel agency, and we are so grateful to Alex and Francisco for an outstanding trip to Costa Rica! The itinerary prepared for us was perfect...great activities each day...the tour guides all showed up as scheduled, according to plans...the private drivers were the absolute best...all went exceedingly smoothly! The only "glitch" of the trip that we experienced had nothing to do with Tachiz Travel, but with the airlines: a flight delay caused two of us to miss our connecting flight to Costa Rica, but my other two (young adult) children had just arrived in Costa Rica on another flight and were waiting for us to meet them at the Costa Rica airport...when I called Tachiz to report the delay, they graciously accommodated us by taking the first arrivals (at 4 am!) to the resort 3 hours away, and then returning to the airport to transport us to the resort around midnight! And Tachiz Travel even offered to not charge us for the additional transportation costs!! Another example of how Tachiz went "above and beyond" is when I texted a question about our itinerary on Christmas Day, I received an immediate response! I highly recommend Tachiz Travel for an unforgettable adventure in Costa Rica!

Tachiz Travel Review by S. Bhadare, USA from: 01/01/2019

We cannot rave enough about the trip that the travel team put together for us. It is a vacation we will never forgot and have nothing but fond memories and excellent experiences. The tours ran like clockwork with hand picked guides. The timing of everything was precision and professional. We loved it so much. Thank you.

Our receiving driver, Jose was a history PhD guide himself. He taught us so much about Costa Rica before we got to our hotel. It was amazing. Some of the tours way exceeded expectations, there are no words to describe. The hotel in Tamarindo was perfect. Private and public and the proximity to the town meant no need for a car rental. We felt safe and welcomed at all times, even though we were novices zip-lining and white water rafting. The patience and knowledge of the tour guides including the sunset sail which was perfect are memories that will forever make us smile.

Tachiz Travel Review by H. Conger, USA from: 12/31/2018

The trip was great. It went seem less from the meet and greet at the airport day 1 to several phone calls along the way asking how everything was going and let us know of any changes. All the activities went as planned other than a few of the tour companies being late for pickup. We had a 7 am exit flight not sure why we got to the airport 3:45 minutes early. 9 days with 3 different locations along the journey. Arenal was amazing with the hot springs, Manuel Antonio was beautiful with the ocean and mountains in the background. The travel agent was great.

The best thing we did was the white water rafting in Arenal / La Fortuna. It was heart beating and amazing. Way more than what I expected. Volcano views and hot springs went awesome. There is a restaurant in La Fortuna called Los Nene's it a must stop. Zip lining in Monteverde was pretty great also.

Tachiz Travel Review by L. Smith, USA from: 12/28/2018

This year we decided to give each other a trip to Costa Rica as our Christmas gift. I mentioned to Alex that we enjoy photography and want to shoot birds and animals in the natural habitat. We really did not want waterfalls since we were at Victoria Falls a month ago.

Jose and Francisco greeted us at the San Jose Airport. Francisco gave us a Christmas gift and travel documents. Jose was knowledgable and spoke English very well. He drove us to Arenal Volcano area. We were lucky to see the top of the volcano. The Royal Corin Hotel had beautiful views, hot volcano heated pools, large suite with a hot tube viewing the volcano, delicious food and good, friendly service.

The Canoe Adventure was our favorite tour in Costa Rica. Alvere and John took the time to help us get great shots of the sloth, crocodiles, birds, bats, monkeys and iguanas. After the rafting trip on the Peno Blanco River, we had a snack of tortillas, cheese, plantains and coffee.

At night we had an Ecoterra guided night adventure which poured down rain so we did not see much. The homemade meal was ok.

The next morning at 5:20 am we went bird watching adventure which was a wash out. Just rained so we did not see many birds. Very disappointing since we got up so early.

Henry picked us up and drove us to Bajos del Toro area to El Silencio Lodge and Spa. Even though he has broken English, he is a funny man who enjoys sharing the Costa Rica life with his clients. The lodge and property were beautiful and staff was very friendly. We enjoyed the outside hot tube, large cabin and snack time. We were disappointed that the chicken and beef were tough, trout was over cooked and not much on the farm to table menu that we liked.

Daniel took us on a guided hike to the waterfalls which was ok. Later that day I took the private guided Los Bajos Cultural Adventure with Ronald which was ok.

We liked the Lodge and property but we felt it was not worth the cost compared to the other towns we visited in Costs Rica. We would have liked to spend time at the Corcovado national parks taking pictures of wildlife/Macaw birds.

We headed towards Manuel Antonio but stopped for the canopy zipline adventure. It was 12 lines and two of them we were at 50 mph. Very exciting adventure.

We enjoyed the Shana Hotel with the beautiful beach, delicious food, friendly staff and large room. On Christmas day we went on a sea kayaking adventure with Alan from Iguana tours. He was very professional, funny but made safety first. We hopped out of the kayak to go snorkeling with the colorful fish. Alan helped a family stuck on a rock with their kayak flipped over. We stopped along the beach to swim and have a pineapple. Later Alan took us to a local restaurant which had the best mahi lunch.

The next day we took the Manual Antonio guided tour with Andre from Iguana tours. He was very knowledgeable, had a scope to show us the toucan, iguanas, sloths, birds, monkeys plus capture the pictures on your cell phone. The park is his office for the past 15 years.

We were happy to see a familiar face, Henry who drove us back to San Jose Airport.

All the Tachiz drivers are very professional, who give great service and educates you about their beautiful country.

I would skip the Bajos del Toro area and visit Corcovado National Park to see the brilliant Macaw birds.
