National Wildlife Refuge Junquillal




Located on the northwest coast of Costa Rica, a resident of Santa Rosa National Park, the National Wildlife Refuge Junquillal part of the Guanacaste Conservation Area. This refuge is 505 acres, Junquillal protected by a dry tropical forest and coastal swamps near the coast Peaceful. Located 21 miles from Liberia just off the Inter-American Highway, the National Wildlife Refuge Bay Junquillal is also known for the option of swimming, diving or surfing.

A quiet bay with sheltered beach, the Wildlife Refuge Junquillal Bay is a spectacular spot to watch various sea birds such as brown pelicans and magnificent frigate, which nest in the area. The tresquiornitinos, alcedinos, heron parrots, eagles, crows and sandpipers also live on this coast. Additionally the olive ridley, hawksbill, green turtles and leatherback turtles come ashore to nest on the beach during the breeding season.
